Melted HotEnd

I am in the calibration stage of building my Rostock Max V2. I was having trouble with one of the cheapskates so I detached the 2 arms that go from the cheapskates to the hotend. So during the time of troubleshooting, the hotend was hanging at an angle. When I would turn my printer on the hotend would get to be around 205 degrees C. I didn't know how to control it (when I clicked to have it turned off in repetier nothing would happen), but I assumed that it was not a big deal since it would get that hot when printing abs anyway. I was looking at my hotend later and noticed this. (see attachment) If you can't tell by the picture; they grey plastic or rubber part of the hot end melted and caused the bottom of the hot end to warp from it. Has anyone else have this problem? Is there anyway for me to fix it, or is my hot end ruined. I'm thinking maybe I could just heat it up again and then try to push it back. Would this work? Thanks for any help.

Yikes. That didn't happen to me but I might've made the same assumption that you did. I hope that's fixable - best of luck to you!

Order a PEEK replacement section from the SeeMeCNC store here.

Full disassembly of the nozzle isn't impossible, just make sure you are very careful.

Yes. Replace that PEEK section. You can sustain those temperatures on the hot end just fine, but you need to have the PEEK fan installed and running to cool down that section. Doesn't look like you had a fan installed yet.

That kind of damage only happens when the PEEK section hits a temperature higher than 245C.

If it was saying that it was only 205 degrees, i would also check my thermistor. It may have poor contact with the hot end.
