Amazing.
Granted, I didnt apply any adhesion to the bed (as it was PLA), and I'm waiting on ABS to make the PEEK shroud, but I figured I just print the generic test cube that's on Matter Control.
Did the 30 or so minute calibration, took a few attempts to get that number right so the bed levels too, but got that sorted.
Anyway, printed it, and no word of a lie, its come out better than I've ever printed anything on the Prusa I3 I have.. No waves on the X/Y axes, top layer is completely flat with no over-extrusion or under-extrusion (I've become a bit of a master about what looks correct trying to get my Prusa to do the same). And this was without a layer fan and without any bed adhesion. The only problem was my first layer not sticking when doing the skirt, so it ruined the first layer a bit, but after that, solid!
Now considering this is my first actual print with it, and I've only done basic calibrations (the ones in the manual without going to Triffid etc), absolutely fantastic!!
Just have one question - presume printing the shroud is ok, even if you don't have it currently? Worried about temps that was all (as it's not on yet and further down on the forums I've seen some guys hotend literally melt..).
First print???

It is great that you experienced such great results from your printer on the first print, these truly are great printers and they look cool too!add1ct3dd wrote:Amazing.

It's ok to print the shroud, the peek plastic on the hotend starts to melt at approximately 245C so keep your hotend temperatures down to 220 or so.
You should experience a great feeling of pride after you saw your first print!
Re: First print???
Ok cheers, will 220C be ok for printing ABS? I always thought it was a bit higher (230 or so), but I've never actually printed with ABS myself, always stuck to PLA due to the supposed smell you get when printing ABS (put me off)

Re: First print???
You can go to 230C if you need to, I just wanted to keep the temperature as low as possible considering you do not have a peek fan until you print out this mount.add1ct3dd wrote:Ok cheers, will 220C be ok for printing ABS? Best of luck!
