Easiest way to install Dampers
So I'm about 8 hours into my build and I have a Damper kit on it's way. My question is for those of you that have installed them, what's the easiest/stress free way to disassemble as little as you can to install these on the motors? Any tips and tricks? I'm at the point where I've got motors and the top plate of the base installed over them. Much appreciated!!

Re: Easiest way to install Dampers
I've waiting to do this when I get some time. I would love to be printing over night again, but I got the running during the day to keep the $$ following in.
I'm most concerned about rounding out the setscrews that are Loctited into the belt drive gears. I'm thinking about ordering extra set screws (what size are they?) and easy outs just in case. Is there a manual or thread for this?
You should be able to get all the screws, but I think you will have to take out the display. Then use a really long screwdriver.

Re: Easiest way to install Dampers
Well, how much do you think the noise will bother you/others?
I've had my printer operating for about 3 weeks now and I have a set of dampers, but since I can put the printer somewhere isolated, the dampers are not yet installed.
I suspect (but don't know) that installing the dampers into a fully-assembled Max won't be much more difficult than doing them from the get-go.

Mine's a v1, but from what I hear the v2 isn't much different...?
On the V1 it's a 10 minute job. You can get at the screws holding the steppers on quite easily. Slacken off the belt pulleys, undo each motor in turn, release the pulley grub screw and offset it the thickness of the damper (7mm I think) along the shaft, retighten it, install the damper to the stepper, install the assembly back into the frame.

This!! Thank you for the answer. I feel stupid because I should of waited till I got home to my build to post this, but I started stressing out that I wouldn't be able to get to the screws. When the dampers arrive I will definitely follow your response!!! Thanks again!!!Captain Starfish wrote:Mine's a v1, but from what I hear the v2 isn't much different...?
