I am in the process of unboxing my new Rostock Max v2. Everything looks good except for one piece: the top melamine plate at the top of the printer. One of the slots on one side looks to have gotten hit at some point. I've attached a picture of the damage.
I've never built a printer before, so I'm not sure. Is this damage merely cosmetic, or will it weaken the structural integrity of the printer? I'm trying to decide if I need to contact support for a new part or not. If it's only cosmetic, I won't bother.
Damaged melamine part. Cosmetic or structural?
Re: Damaged melamine part. Cosmetic or structural?
It looks like you'd definitely want to get that replaced. Luckily it is almost the last piece needed, so it won't interfere with your build process (for too long) if SeeMeCNC ships the part quickly.

Re: Damaged melamine part. Cosmetic or structural?
Cosmetic BUT it is on the front face of the top plate.
It's gonna stare straight at you every time you look at the printer. Fortunately the top plate is essentially a lid and adds some stiffness but came be changed without any disassembly. The plate is held down by three plastic thumb screws threaded into the top of the towers.
I would ask for another replacement plate and proceed with building the printer. If it comes to you after you have finished changing would take less than five minutes.

Gotcha. I've contacted support and am proceeding with the rest of the build (rather, with peeling tape off of the melamine pieces >_< ).
Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll be on with more questions, seeing as this is my first build.
