I just discovered that a relative of mine won 300kg of acetal copolymer pellets at an auction. To my neanderthal brain, that sounds like it might be similar to ABS. Are these pellets something that I could look into running through a Filastruder and then through my Max, or is this idea a total non-starter?

Ben, the best I can say is to read the 1st page of Filastruder's site, it discusses which pellets you can use. http://www.filastruder.com/products/filastruder-kit

They do not mention ACP pellets so even they may not know if their machine can extrude the pellets. I would leave them a message at http://www.filastruder.com/pages/contact-us

I wish I could be of more help but that ACP plastic must be highly exotic. Please let us know what Filastruder tells you.

also, Acetal smoke and fumes are actually toxic. beyond smelling bad. would not recommend without very good ventilation.

formaldehyde probably isn't a good thing to inhale

E3d sells Derlin (Acetal, POM) Filament. Sounds like its not that fun to print with;

it extrudes cleanly and easily from our hotends at around 250C and adheres well to lower layers.
However our tests have been hampered by the fact that POM is so slippery and getting it to stick to the bed is very very hard! We have had limited success

I tested the POM Filament from E3D. It´s ok through the E3D-V6 Hotend.

But it´s sticking to nothing. Not to PEI, not to glass, not to Tape. Nothing.
Doesn´t matter which Bed Temperature. Gave up on this POM thing

A mate will give me a Delrin plate (100x100mm) 5mm thickness. As soon as I have it, I will check if this is working.

The first one is if you can use a double sided tape to tape it to glass or something (assuming the acetal sheet isn't flat). The second is more garolite-esque. Secure it down with binder clips. Of course I don't know how flat it is, and the thickness tolerance is kinda poor (+.6mm -.2mm I think). Maybe if you were to machine it flat and to a uniform thickness it would work, but that defeats the purpose of a premade solution.
