Build area too small, outside the continental USA. I'll stick with the SeeMeCNC!

Doesn't look like they have their kickstarter tiers quite aligned either... Pledge 299 and get a machine, or pledge 349 and get a smaller machine? An innocent mistake perhaps, but still smells fishy.

The sad part is that they'll raise a lot of money and (probably) be very successful because it's so cheap... Not based on their merits or effort or design or what kind of people they are or how they treat their employees, but solely on the sad truth that the lowest price rules the world. It's hard for a company like SeeMeCNC to compete with a Chinese company that sells a machine below SeeMe's cost at the expense of labor laws, human rights, and the environment...

I don't want to start a rant, and I'm sorry that this printer triggered it (and I wish the best for humans in every country, China included) but our economic model, especially with cheap electronics, desperately needs to change. It's a moral dilemma that we'll need to face someday.



post-claimer I don't know anything about this company or this specific product, they may be amazing people with a true innovation - but I know that the price point isn't possible domestically and that this can sometimes imply bad things about the point of origin and responsibility of the company...

One of the reasons I even posted it was to get an active conversation going about the overseas verses USA printers.

It doesn't look like a bad printer, but I don't really see any special features on it. It looks like the multi-color thing they're talking about is done by switching filaments during pauses in the print.

The prices will go up after the kickstarter to the point where they won't be too far out of the price range of US made printers. Keep in mind that a lot of the cost of US printers goes to markup and/or IP expenses. Makerbot is a good example.

This one starts at a price of 470 dollars now but will probably sell for 550 to 700 after it ends.

I know this has been addressed before but Seemecnc is a know entity, these kickstarter usually end up being something less than meets the eye (if they ever deliver at all).

Yep, as anyone signed up for the Maki3d can attest, these 3d printer kickstarters are an absolute crapshoot. For a couple hundred I wouldn't mind, but when it's getting to a significant proportion of a known good product, not so much.

No Thanks, I am already waiting for an M3D for my kids high school, and then I am waiting for the new machine from SeemeCnc.

That's a nice little printer with all the modular connectors for printing, laser engraving, scanning and more.
The print area is small and I wonder how long it would hold up after changing the different modules for awhile.

I don't really see this as a competitor to seemecnc at all. Perhaps even be good for them in the end.

Not competition because honestly they will be losing money on each printer here. So the chances of the quality being on par and including all the listed features seems to be beyond the scope of reality. Unless they get all their raw materials for free and the machining and labour to create the parts also free. But then what is left for product support and what are the chances of long term support and part replacement and development to further the product keeping it current and competitive?

I see this potentially being good for seemecnc as the purchasers of this product decide that now they want to try a "real" delta printer with a proven record backed by a real company that is constantly working to keep things current and up to date.

It's an excellent looking machine they have there, nice looking fit and finish too. Do you really believe that that machine can be dropped in your lap in that finished form for the prices they list containing the features they claim? AND do this within the timelines defined.

I would have much more faith in the product if it were double the stated cost and had less "amazing" extras.

But time will tell.

I don't even know how to parse this sentence, let alone assign a concrete meaning to any of its terms. It may as well say, "Please believe that this is the best printer on Earth, because a stranger (ME) told you so."

Why do so many of these people think they're going to price their product like they're Samsung, and they're going to get the cost efficiency of cranking out a million of them? These guys are going to take a bath.
