I am having a huge issue with the extruder mixing in and overlapping. I'm not sure why it keeps coming out this way. I am using ABS I did the proper calibration, and I still don't get the problem.

I'm sure someone will,,, I started with reptier host, and know nothing about Mattercontrol, other than the times I've tried it, it does something to piss me off, and I go back to repetier.

Apart from a settings dump you've done very little to describe your issue.

You say I am not getting a response because I am not describing the issue. If people would have asked like you did. I would have explained like I am now. So, thank you.

I don't know how any other way to describe that when it starts to print the first layer it goes back over it and digs into the filament it just laid down.

Sounds like your nozzle height may be set too low.

To me, it looks like your "minimum travel requiring retraction" and "minimum extrusion requiring retraction" are much too high. I think I have mine set at something like 2 and 0.02. You're not going to get a z hop without a retract to go along with it, so I'm guessing that's your trouble.

If you're worried about grinding down your filament (I do 5.4mm retracts and don't have trouble with it), you can always set your retract length to 0.1 or something. But I'd leave that where it is until/unless you have trouble with it.

EDIT: BTW, we do have some very knowledgeable and helpful members on this forum, but no one watches it like a hawk. Just because you haven't gotten a reply in a couple hours doesn't mean you're being ignored - if a few days go by without a reply, THEN you can get antsy about it.

I will try all that thank you and see how that goes. Its just from the time I have opened the box to this printer, all the way to today, it has been 2 months that I have been working to get this right and build it. So I was already frustrated when I asked for that response. But I do apologize, and thank you again.

I'm in Anaheim, CA, so you have local owners that can jump in and help. If nothing else works, Riverside isn't that far away, but I'll bet we can figure it out before it requires a housecall.

I've dabbled in MatterControl, used RepetierHost, and am currently using Pronterface. It doesn't sound like it's necessarily a host software issue.

From your description, It's going to be either two things.

(1) Your max Z is not set correctly. This is my first guess. To verify this, execute a G0 Z0 F7000 over a slip of paper. The paper should be able to pull away with resistance. If it's pinched, you need to reduce you z height. Once that's settled, execute a G0 Z0.2 F7000, and try again. The paper should slide freely underneath the nozzle. If after you calibrate you z height, and it's still grabbing the paper at an ordered height of 0.2mm, try guess 2. Getting your z height set correctly is both an art and a science. and it will occasionally need to be adjusted a bit.

(2) Your steps per mm for all axes are not set correctly If your machine is set with the wrong steps per mm, then nothing's going to really work. go through each step in geneb's manual, clear all eeprom settings, and start over from that chapter.

Good luck, have patience, and before you know it, you'll be a full blown expert in 3d printing. just takes time.
