How do you guys handle uneven cooling?

Hey guys,
I have been printing in PLA most recently and I am really happy with the results. The only problem I really noticed was the side opposite of my layer fan isn't as clean as the side with the cooling fan. Surely this is do to than fan only blowing from one side. What are you guys doing to combat this problem? I don't want to buy more squirrel fans and print more shrouds because I feel that would make my hotend gigantic. And doesn't it reduce my effective build area if I do it that way/
I wanted to make something like this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:43983 so that I could use one fan and get even cooling, but it's designed for a 40mm fan, not a blower. So I tried to "fuse" design aspects of SeeMeCNC's layer fan shroud with this annular shroud so I would have the fitting for the blower and the annular shroud part, but I am not very skilled in 3DS Max.
So what's the best solution?
