Y Axis Wires
Y Axis Wires
So, I've got the cables routed through and the top of the tower put on. I started strapping down cables and notice the "two red and black wire pairs" are only one pair and I have no other red and black wire to pull down the frame. It said the "one you bundled up earlier" but I don't see any laying around and not sure what it's referring to. Please help!
Re: Y Axis Wires
I'm an idiot... I will cut it in half and see if I can route the second piece through...

Re: Y Axis Wires
Before you do that, your photo shows 2 red and 2 black wires - would that not be the 2 pairs? What do you think you are missing?
One pair goes to the PEEK fan, the other pair goes to the layer fan.
I also see a black/white wire pair for an end stop switch, and a white/green wire pair which I presume is for the heater resistors.
I guess this is an important question - are the bundle of wires for the extruder motor not shown in your picture?

Re: Y Axis Wires
That was the cable for the extruder motor. I forgot to cut the black and red cables in half. Problem is now that I cut them too short on the one cable and it won't go all the way down to the hot plate. Is this wire I can pick up at a store??
Re: Y Axis Wires
How much slack do I need on this cable. If it's not enough, I wonder if cutting some extra off the other and soldering it together would do.

Re: Y Axis Wires
You could get away with cutting some wire from the longer pair and adding to the shorter pair. You don't need them to reach ALL the way to the hot plate - if they end about 10cm away, that would probably be OK. You might even be able to get away with 15 or 20 cm, but that would be pushing it.
If you're in doubt, buy a cheap telephone cord from walmart and scavenge the wiring out of that.
