Scientists Create World's First Self-Healing Plastic

Has anyone read this? The possibilities as a printer filament are intriguing. I wonder if it can be processed as a filament?

I created the same thing 10 years ago by accident when i put too little cobalt into a mix of vyanlester resin and over accelerated it with dimethylene. If I knew my screw up would have attracted world wide attention I would have slapped a patent on it. LOL

That stuff looks pretty cool, DavidF, give us a recipe!

It does look pretty weak though. Maybe for use as overmolding if it isn't toxic.

Definitely not something very new, we talked about this in my polymers class in college, same goes for self healing composites that have resin pockets of sorts that when a crack propogates through them, they 'heal' themselves.
