Rostock MAX v2 not getting up to temp

Post by TheCommonCathode »

Whenever I try and print now, the temperature keeps reading about 2-5 degrees under the target on my extruder. And thoughts?

First things first, check your wiring. Touch connectors on top of the rambo. They should not be hot. Check all the wires aswell.

After this, inspect your thermistor. It could be coming out. So you are reaching temp and well above but your thermistor is not making proper contact and it is reading low.

Second it could be your power supply not delivering enough. Turn OFF the bed temperature and try again. If hotend heats up to temp the the psu is the culprit.

Third your resistors could be dying. If you have a multimeter check their resistance and report back ( i have not memorised the value but it it written in one of the threads).

Check the silicone around the resistors. It tends to flake off making you lose heat.

Set a value 10 degs higher and see if your hotend goes further now. This will indicate taht your pid values are off. Try to do the pid tuneing again as in the manual (the rostock max manual, its the same procedure in the orion)

If you have not found anything so far, wrap the hotend with kapton tape.

It could also be your PID tuning, add 1 to your D or I number to see if it brings you up, it might oscillate.

What *specific* error message do you get? I've never heard of a Windows "profile" before.

Failure to load profile is not 'bricked'. Its just windows. Google is your friend... fix 'failed to load profile' windows

There's something wrong with the file system and registry I think. I'm just going to pull Repetier and it profiles/setting and other important docks and just reinstall windows. That or Linux

Linux would be fine but most of the control and slicing programs are created to run with Windows.
I believe Windows would be the best OS simply because you have more options you can use for the 3D printer. I love Linux and it's derivatives but not in this case.

Has anyone tried Repitier-Server? If so, what do you think of it?
