Well, I Was Stupid

Post by jlmccuan »

As the title suggests, I did a dumb thing. Playing around with an LED ring connected to the fan, I touched the wire ends together and realized the power was on. Long story short, my MAX is dead. Still shows the yellow LED when USB is connected, but otherwise no signs of life. The 15 amp fuse is OK. Fan supply on power supply does not run, but some of those ATX supplies don't power the fan until they warm up. Any guesses as to what got toasted?

Not stupid, just careless. You can't fix stupid, but you CAN fix careless. :)

Check the other fuses on the board. Chances are you've cooked one of them.

It was, in fact, F3. Thanks for the tip.

In the process of checking connections, I believe I hit the board reset on the upper left, as installed, of the board, also. So now I have power to the board. The board operates the LCD panel. Matter Control communicates with the board and operates the heated bed and extruder. However, there is no movement from the steppers from Matter Control or by trying to adjust the Z height with the LCD knob.

F2 is the fuse for the motors, if that one is gone too, it will all work but motors will not move..

Yep, F2 and F3 were both problems. Back up and running.
