Total noob here with a couple of weeks of wait before I get my Rostock. Has anyone here installed a Chimera with a .25mm and a .80mm (or larger) nozzle? The idea is to print the outer shells at slow speeds and small layer heights, and the infill would be printed at very large layer heights and fast speed. So you would essentially get very detailed prints and the duration of the print would be a lot shorter than using a single small nozzle. I would think shrinkage would probably be more noticeable, and I don’t know how reliably does a 2-nozzle setup work with regards of calibration and having well, two nozzles. Is anyone doing this detail/infill dual setup successfully on a Rostock?

How would you make sure that your infill layers would not conflict with the physical nozzle nearby? If its a thin wall and you have a .1 layer height, and the other say .6,the nozzle will probably hit it and fail the print. If anything just use the smaller nozzle for top layer finish for better xy resolution.

print 6 borders for every one infill - options exist in Simplify3D, not sure how well it works though.

Most slicers have options to do this, I Fil only everyX layers and separate infill width. Most of the issues you'll hit are the same as any multi head printing, the biggest being the heads have to be exactly level everywhere on the build surface. Sees the many dual head discussions on the forum.

Has anyone actually made this work? The only other thing I can think of is having some setup where the hot end not in use is moved out of the way, something like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6POrjVXgsk

Dunno how you could set that up with two nozzles on a delta effector platform though, but somethin to keep in mind for the future I guess.
