MatterControler and MatterSlicer Fail to Build the Infill

I should have stopped this print earlier. When this print was sliced with MC when using MC slicer and Cura doesn't build the infill which I set at 30%. I also stopped my second and third print again because of no infill which I changed to 40 and then 50%, respectively. I'm not sure why MC does not build the infill on occasion . This has happened to me multiple times even with reprints or different prints. Once MC quits building the infill all prints fail in that regard. When I changed the infill to 80%, it build the infill.

Gremlins or something live there!!!
I've downloaded Repetier and may try that. Havent decided! Anyone with an insight. I have posted this question in MC thread as well but no solution test as to what I may have done or why it happens.
Here is the no-infill fail. Overall it looks terrible.

Want to post the model? Maybe there's a problem with the file or something.

Will do when I get home. The other models I have used that worked and then didn't, were ok when I checked and repaired with Netfabb. Even after running the NetFabb repair it still didn't build the fill.

Going to RH isn't going to do any good - it doesn't have its own slicer. It'll use Slic3r or CuraEngine just like MC does. I'm willing to bet that if there's not a serious problem with the model, it's your slicer configuration.

Now that you mention it my friend who uses RH did state that he uses Slic3r.
I do agree and have wondered what I have changed to cause this problem but going back to defaults didn't resoleved the problem. Are there other parameters in MC that are not part of the fill settings that would affect or cause this?

You might want to try one of the default configurations that come with the 1.2.2 version of MC. The installer has a few profiles cooked into it and they work fairly well in the simple experiments I've done.

Thanks. I will try that if this comes up again. In rethinking what happened, that the default says 30% infill. When I had trouble is when I changed this manually vs. clicking on heavy. I received an error when entering a percentage and had to enter a decimal (i.e. 30% vs. 0.3). Would that have caused problems?

I don't know that the input would handle the "%" sign. Typically in 3D slicing packages the percentages are entered as a value from 0.0 to 1.0, so 30% would be .3.

What's odd about MC is that if you have it set to "CUSTOM" for the infill have have say .2 entered. If you change the drop down to "STANDARD" it will change the infill to display 30%...not .3. I wondered about that but I always overwrite it with a decimal rather than using a % because it seems odd. So maybe MC is causing the no fill because it's using the %?

This weekend I will run some test prints with different settings of default vs. custom and see if that is what is the problem.

After printing the prior shown Copic pen holder (attached STL) at 80% infill (custom setting entering 0.8) I printed the ear ring holder which I repaired with Netfabb (attached). I did not change any setting simply wiped the bed with isopropyl and started it. Using Cura, MC did not build the infill.
Thus, I stopped the print and tried the little alien which was also repaired (attached STL). Cura slicer in MC again failed to build the infill.
Thus, I changed the infill from 80% to minimal to "Standard". I did not enter the fraction simply clicked on the standard button. With that Cura slicer in MC did build the infill.
Then, I set a custom infill to "0.4". Cura slicer in MC did build the infill.
Then, I set the custom fill to ".5". Cura slicer in MC did build the infill.
Then, I set the custom fill to ".4". Cura slicer in MC did build the infill.
I will now reprint the ear ring holder without changing any settings.

I didn't change any settings and printed the Ear Ring Holder and it Cura Slicer failed to build the infill.
Again, didn't change anything and reprinted the alien. This time Cura slicer in MC
did build the fill!
It doesn't all quite fit since this is exactly the sequence of prints which failed with the alien. I am beginning to think it is the ear ring holder STL file but will keep updating this treat as I continue to print.

Sounds like you're getting closer. Do you have the same issues with MC Slicer or the Slic3r engine in MC?

I have not been able to use Slic3r in MC. I am running MC on an iMac and most times it does not complete the build and if it does the HotEnd and print bed turn off and I can not turn them on. A couple of others on the forum have had the same issue (

I downloaded the T-Rex skull and started the print of the jaw. I didn't change any settings . I left it only to find it a couple of hours later with no fill. Dang. Not sure what is happening. Works for a number of prints then fails.
Uggggg.

After canceling the T-Rex Jaw print I simply reprinted it again and Cura slicer in MC did not build the fill. Canceled it again!
Changed the fill to 0.5 and tried again. No infill.
Changed the infill to heavy (i.e. 90%) without entering in the fraction. No infill.
Time for another beer!

Next: iMac reboot and try again.

download kisslicer or something completely out of matter control.

If the reboot print fails, I agree. I will move to another. Are you still unable to use Slic3r in MC?

The only file I have ever sliced using matter control is the fan shroud. Never touched it since. I only use it to calibrate.

I sliced it with Slic3r and imported the G-code into MC. When I did that it acted just like using Slic3r in MC. Turns off the HotEnd and Bed and I can't control it. Will try Kiss slicer. Am I doing this right.

try printing directly from a SD card on the printer - no computer or anything plugged in.

If you slice it with slic3r, load it on an sd card , Will it print then? Without using Mattercontrol?

You might be running into a bug in how the infill percentage is being passed to the slicing engine. I'd post a bug about it on the MC github site.
