A friend of mine wants to build a budget printer.
What would you recommend. He is looking at the pursa i3 but there must be better ones out there. How about a Kossel?

Check out SGraber's version of the i3 (Shane Graber, not Steve).
I think the i3 is the go-to budget Cartesian.

My father just picked up an i3 a few weeks ago. Think he paid less than $400 and that's with an LCD w/sd card reader. Im sure Shane's version is great but there is also Folger Tech.

If you go the delta route the Kossel would be fine.
Ebay has a good selection of Kossel kits and the I3 kits. I agree with Jim that the I3 would make a good low budget cartesian.

$349, 4x4x4", PLA only. They go up from there. Never used one, so I can't tell you whether it's any good. What build volume does your friend want?

Thank you for the comments.
He got a i3 variant of some sort that had parts broken during shipping. So he is assembling that at the moment.
