Standard hotend for Rostock Max V2 wiggles

Post by Dale Eason »

My stanard hotend for my Rostock max wiggles about 2 mm at the tip if I press on it with my finger. It is slightly loose where the PEEK attaches to the metal top part. Is that normal or have I somehow damaged it? My prints seem to come out ok but I don't have the experience yet to know for sure. I don't have the PEEK cooling fan in yet because I broke the supplied one trying to get it back out of the shroud because it was pinching the fan during test fitting. My shroud fan opening is not quite square as one side opening is a few mm smaller than the other side. So besides the above problem I also may have some issue making that not be square.

That is not normal. Try tightening it by removing the bowden tube and the big nut so that you can tighten the sections by turning the topend, holding the hotend from turning so you don't damage the wiring. If it doesn't tighten, then you have a damaged peek section, and need to order another.

Thank you I did not realize it could be tightened. It worked. Yeah.

Word of caution! - Tighten carefully, the wall thickness is very thin.

Mine snapped off a fraction of a turn past snug.
