Hi there,
Under the sheer pressure of the extruder motor pushing the filament through the tube, the upper press fit connector somehow broke and does not hold the bowden tube in place anymore.
(Probably related to some other problems that I'm working on fixing, but in order to fix them i need to be able to print new delta rods).
Does anyone know a good makeshift way to fix this problem? I've been experimenting with cable ties with more or less sucess. Tomorrow i'll get another load of cable ties to try again, but i wanted to hear if maybe you guys have some recommendations.
Are those pressfit connectors universally available? Can i buy them on ebay or somewhere else in europe?
press fit connector broken - how to fix?
Re: press fit connector broken - how to fix?
You can use a hoseclamp tightened down super snug on the outside of the bowden tube provided you can find a metal insert that will slide up inside the bowden tube, I'll try to find a picture of the redneck one I made. Otherwise you can order them from mcmaster carr and seemecnc.

I use a nut, that was just the right size (I happened to have a few laying around, it's a common size.) I threaded it onto the bowden tube, and used it as an anchor to tie/tape the tube in place.

here is a thread with a pic of what I managed to put together when I needed something

Re: press fit connector broken - how to fix?
Thanks for all the input, this topic really brings forth the awesome diy mentality of this forum.
So far i've gathered some tubes of related size and some nuts to screw on the bowden tube, I might also have one or two hose clamps that could fit.
Tomorrow ill gather some more cable ties.
@TFMike:
What are those things you used below the hose clamp towards the extruder stepper?
Also any ideas where to get those connectors in europe?

I think its actually a MIC jack for a guitar or something that i cut down and jammed into a busted PTC connector that I had bored out, I superglued it on there and it held for the week or so I needed it to. It wasn't ideal though and I actually made an even better version 2, I'll see if I can find it and take pics of it.
Re: press fit connector broken - how to fix?
Hey Bot,
That is so funny, because I've done something similar with my upper bowden tube connectors.
I was tired of them popping off at random points during a print. I'm not hammering it with insane retract speeds like I used to, but still...
My steps are pretty similar:
- thread nut onto bowden tube
- use 5/64" bit to *gently* re open tube where it is constricted a bit by the nut
- push busted connector back onto bowden tube, fits snugly against nut
- slather nut and connector with JBWeld, let cure for 24 hours
- wrap jbweld with capton tape, and electrical tape to keep everything bound together nicely

Re: press fit connector broken - how to fix?
Thanks for the input! Fixed it!
Removed a part of the wood behind the push fit connector (this solution has to be forever, i don't plan on buying a new push fit connector seeing how they break after such a short time)
Then put two nuts on the bowden tube, put a piece of tube over it and fixed it in place using two small hose clamps.
