My DIY Rostock Booth (picture heavy)

Post by milp »

I felt the need to present my Rostock Max, set up in my kitchen/workshop. Gotta love my man cave apartment.

Made a cover for the printing area using rescue blankets and left over fabric. My current project is printing new delta rods from ABS, so keeping the temperature inside as good as possible is important to keep the rods from warping. Also some good additional lighting on the wall.

Additionally:
A PSU for lighting and general outside power supply. An EEE PC 901 without keyboard and broken screen as remote control computer. Some tools and general mess.

Inside you have additional lighting from left over LED stripes and a chinese H4 SMD Automotive bulb and two old smart phones used as Ip Cameras, this one is the Full HD Top Down view one. I added air cooling to it's battery pack to keep it from stalling when printing at high temperatures.

My Desk with the fancy remote control center. And obligatory laundry dryer.

Broken delta arms i welded with my soldering iron and ABS filament.

So this is my printing place, i hope i didn't bore you guys to hell with my creative mess.

Bonus gif i made by accident:

How on earth did you manage to break the arms?!

A large print partially warped off the bed, obstructed the hot end and eventually one arm snapped loose and the other broke, that happened twice.

I'm actually really impressed that you broke those arms. Amazing!

Thanks for showing off your setup - show us again once your new arms are done!
I loved my Rostock so much I now sell them in Oz :)

The new arms might still take some time, turns out the ones i managed to print aren't quite strong enough.

That placard is a show off from IBM's production of "Monolithic FET Memory Modules 2048bit/Chip" in the early 1970s. My grandpa got it in 1975 for his 25 year work anniversary.
It's kind of an inspirational thing to me since he was a sucessful engineer, and that's what I'm aiming to be. At least hobby wise.
