Cant get bed level

Post by ericpudding »

I have leveled my bed multiple times using various techniques but I still can get the whole bed level and I'm getting very frustrated. I dont know why the bed isn't level. At the base of each tower and at the center of the print bed the resistance feels the same with a piece of paper but when i go to print something not everywhere sticks to the bed. Its not a bed adhesion problem because I apply glue everywhere before the print. I tried using the method from this thread, http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=5906 but my bed wasnt flat after doing that. Heres a picture of a print that just failed again. http://imgur.com/ocSx9GQ

How do I consistently make my bed level? I really need some help here.

I ended up using the method in the assembly guide where I guess and check with the screws on the carriage. I check the specific number of the radius right now but I know it was around 130.

If you can get it tuned using paper calibration and then its still off, then I beleive from what I understand is that you have a mechanical issue (same thing im working through!)

im suspecting my belts or carriage or towers are the culprit.

I have a post here about a descrepancy of the position of my screws on my carriages end up after a "home all" command. Seems I have some stickyness or extra bounce.

Belt related?

Im looking for some way to test tension on my belts.

Oh, and check the little handle bar bigs of plastic around the U joints for catching. I just sanded back a few and oiled them to ensure smooth travel.

so just to make sure you have done the step mentioned on page 239 of the manual? in short after the towers are set, z zero is NOT set with a normal Z zero calibration, you need to adjust that with horizontal radius in .5 steps. after your towers and your horizontal radius is set, your Z zero should be perfect and any movements around the bed will be the same height. look at the macros you programmed, send a few in by hand (setting your Z axis at 2) changing the x and y axis and see where it goes, that will help you see how to move the hot end manually. you can then place the nozzle in between each tower at the perimeter of the print surface and see if they are all the same.

If you get weird behavour after the paper test is all good, look for rogue things like snagging wires, plastic catching at the arm ends etc.
