Classic belt calibration issue here? Paint drawing included!

Rostock V2 here guys, been trying to get my max calibrated past small prints and keep getting weird behaviour during calibration attempts, did some tests and noticed my carriages end up in odd positions relative to the limit switches.

Classic belt tension issue?

Looking for a way to measure tension if anyone knows a trick.

I also think one of my carriages (z) has developed a slight grip at the top near switch, check my image below for my results on the tests ive done so far.

My analysis of this seem sound? :)

I haven't looked at it this way before, seems like a sound theory...now I'm going to look at mine and see what it looks like.

Just took off the effector and arms and noticed those arms... they have an upside and a downside? I had a few reversed (one side of the fork different shape to the other side) and will see how that goes once I reassemble.

Also, I have found that using my Y carriage as a reference, my X carriage after a home all command rests about 1mm LOWER than Y carriage and Z carriage rests about 1mm HIGHER than Y carriage at rest.

Off to work now, would love anyones thoughts of my developments and tips anyone has :)

If you have a smartphone you can download a free guitar tuner app and "tune" each belt to the pitch.

Nice idea KAS!

I wonder without the arms and effector hanging off the carriages, and holding the carriage way up to the max of the switch and letting go, how far are the carriages meant to spring/fall down?

X and Z don't fall really at all but Y falls about 3/4mm.

I went and re tightened the belt and put the effector back together with the arms all faceing the right way (didnt realise the forks of the arms seem like they can have an up or down).

Did some sanding of the handle kinda black bits too that hold the ujoints on. seemed to catch a little.

I then noticed a wire from my effector going up to the top seemed to be catching on one of the arms causing a little jump of the effector. Not sure what this means yet but ive taped her up good to eliminate that from occuring again.

Just finished my paper calibration (130 H/R) O.O

Now im going to go for gold and try a print.

Let me know if the orientation of the arms affects anything for you, I just notices I have one each direction on my setup also and just haven't changed them out yet...I did notice that the arms "flex" more one direction than the other...

Looks like my weird problem is pretty much solved! the only Z variation now is very slight so it looks like something that I fixed worked!

I made the bump in the arms all face up. I think the rogue wire I had which was catching a little was suspicious but it looks like i'll be able to get back to printing!
