ok guys and gals,

next step in this journey of mine is to take the rostock off grid. I have a huge set of desiel electric train starter batteries which will be solar charged at 24 volts. the shop will be powered by the batteries except for the big stuff (mill, lathe, and welders) I already have a 24 tp 12 cpnverter, to run the Rambo and the relays to drive the heated bed at 24 volts.

any suggestions to help this along would be welcome.

I think it will work just fine as a power supply replacement. From the safety standpoint, I'd include a fuse or circuit breaker in the battery feed as well as a disconnect switch. Your original power supply will shut down if there's a short. A locomotive starting pack would happily pump thousands of amps until the weakest point melted. Scary!
