"Oozing" when moving without extrusion

Post by milp »

Hi there,

currently I'm working towards achieving clean prints with thin layer thicknesses. However starting at .1mm layer thickness i get a weird kind of oozing from the nozzle when it does move without extruding. This leads to a lot of overhangs and general mess I have to remove afterwards.

I was messing with filament retraction, filament retraction and re-extrusion speeds, temperature (Currently printing orange PLA at 193°C) and extrusion multiplier. So far to no avail. Greatly reducing the temperature will help but then the structural integrity of the print will suffer.

I once succeeded doing a relatively clean print at 163°C and 0.05mm layers with this filament. But continuing to print like this eventually jammed the extruder stepper mechanics from plastic powder because of the pressure needed to even extrude. The PTFE Tube joint also broke from this.

Since I'm not currently at home, i attached two IP Camera pictures i was able to download, picturing my problem.

Any ideas on how to solve this?
