Fast, sane speeds?

I'm slowly ramping my speeds up, but so far am not having any problems. Wha speeds have you been able to get up to and get good prints? I'm now going 120mm/s in slic3r, though I don't know if it's actually getting up that fast, perhaps I'm limited by ramps?

Would be interested in typical "fast" speeds for both reprap electronics and mach3 control.

You're probably limited by the default acceleration in the firmware, or the min layer time if it's set in slic3r.
I usually print in the 30-50mm/s range for perimeters, and 50-100mm/s for infill with travel moves at 150mm/s.
In practice on most prints, you end up limited by the cooling settings, minimum layer time specifically, if you turn that off, then more often than not you end up with an uneven surface finish IME.
I can certainly print faster than that, but the quality compromises aren't worth it to me.

For maximum quality you really want to keep the flow of plastic as consistent as possible, the change in nozzle pressure isn't instantaneous, so if you're constantly changing speed, you get some variation in wall thickness as the track starts/ends.

A "good" print for me is one that doesn;t look terrible , so 420mm , I may try what polygon said and do 120mm , the slowest I've been printing is 263mm
