Dialing things in

Post by dewme5 »

Rostock Max V2, 2 1/2 days of print time, this is my first 3D printer.

First off, I've had successful prints right from the start. I do like to tinker though, and I'm chasing a higher quality finished part then I am getting at the moment.

Everything is leveled well and running fine for the most part, but I may be confused on certain settings, and the order in which to do them.

I've adjusted rod length, so that I now get correctly sized parts.

Settings are .5 nozzle, .4 first layer height
I had a great first layer, but my single wall thickness was 0.8mm. When I used the extrusion multiplier to bring single wall thickness to .60mm, I have large gaps in 100% layers. First or last. In the below picture, the box on the left is adjusted to .60mm walls, the right is adjust for good layer coverage, but results in fat walls.

Is there a way to get both the recommended extrusion width, and good full layers?

I've also noticed paired lines, where slack somewhere in the system is causing a bunch up then gap out situation, exasperating the situation.
