3D Systems Infinity support filament

A mate just forwarded me a blurb on this stuff and it piqued my curiosity.

Water soluble support material to use with ABS or PLA.

I know it would mean buying Cubify style cartridges and gutting them for the filament, but has anyone given it a crack yet?

First I've seen of it. Does anyone know definitively what it is? If you're working in PLA or can find settings that get it to stick to ABS, regular spools of PVA would probably be functionally comparable.

Yep, the thing about PVA (so I've heard) is that if you leave it exposed to air, it turns to goop after a few days.

It would sure be nice if this Infinity stuff didn't do that, AND was water soluble, AND worked for both materials!

They say its only good for PLA on their website.

PLA is absorbs water, would dunking a part in water to get off the support material cause any distortion to the part? I pretty much only print in abs so not real sure of how fast PLA absorbs water.

Good spot, jfettig.

Somewhat limited if it can only do PLA, back to mechanicals or HIPS for ABS I guess.
