MAX METAL Platform

Received the new kit today and I'm absolutely blown away from the quality and design. While I haven't printed anything as of yet, the rigidity of the mount outperforms every printed version I've tried.

Most likely I'm not using the platform as intended as I like to have the hot-end hang below the effector. The peek fan hits the Trick Laser LED ring when mounted the "appropriate" way, hence it being sandwiched above the platform.

Also, be careful if using the Yellow Jacket Quick Change PCB from themakerhive.com. My understanding is that the 3 holes in the center have 12v power. I believe the 3rd (maybe 2nd) revision isn't electrically connected, please verify as I'm not sure. That would probably end badly mounting directly to the aluminium.

That's correct. The board was designed to power this LED indicator through the screws without wiring.

Since metal mounts became common recently, Glenn made the newest version with bridgeable solder points to 'enable' this option but to leave it "off" by default.

Oh pretty...my platform is somewhere over the Pacific Ocean atm. Can't wait for it to turn up!

Oooohhhh, that is a thing of beauty! I'm on pins and needles... but, alas, not even a tracking number yet. :-(

Just noticed on the pics....they look like rubber washers. So it should still be cool to use the Rev1 Yellow Jacket?

Use nylon screws, and then yes. I've actually been doing this, and I've been quite impressed with the strength and durability of the plastic hardware. I rolled my eyes at the idea at first, but I've got a several hundred hours on a setup with plastic screws and those screws have outlasted several other things on the effector platform.
