Hi all, What is the best way to clean the purple glue off the glass plate. I'm new to this and think I've made a bit of a mess of it, so want to clean and try again..

Thanks.

dish soap and hot water. rinse well. Pretend you are washing a plate for your mother in law!

Yep, wash 'em like dishes.

It's probably overkill, but I'll also scrub mine down with some alcohol before applying the hairspray or gluestick. Those little prep-pads from the first aid aisle are pretty handy to have in your workshop.

When you decide to try hairspray, Windex does an excellent job of cleaning it off.

The alcohol is a good idea - it gets all the finger oils off the glass.

Maybe its the one I used, but I found that using windex seemed to make it harder for prints to stick afterwards. Definitely do not spray it on a hot bed, any time I tried to heat the bed right after windexing I would get very poor adhesion.

I had best luck removing purple glue with isopropyl alcohol on a rag or cloth. Just wet, wipe, let dry, and start the heated bed. Never had any issues with adhesion using that formula.

I've had good luck with windex and it is what I use 90% of the time. Every once and a while I will wipe it down with acetone afterward, but never really noticed a difference.

How much glue do you put down on the glass after cleaning with windex? I usually put two coats in a cross-hatch pattern.

One coat in stripes with as little overlap as possible is what I usually aim for. I only really use glue for prints that have supports or small areas on the build plate to make sure they don't pop off halfway through the print.

Thanks all. Good tips there. I cleaned off the glass with soapy water, then put Kapton tape on it. Teh kapton seems to be going pretty well. Still some issue with the Abe part lifting from the raft but its an improvement!!!
