Optimum Height for ABS and PLA and Miscellaneous questions

Post by BuckeyeVolunteer »

Just finished building the max v2 printed the peek fan enclosure and the part fan enclosure no problem. Is there a difference between ABS and PLA as far as the the nozzle height? I set the Z calibration with the paper method works ok, but is there a hard go no go measurement for this? One thing I did when setting it up was I used a piece of Marble on my bench for it to sit on and leveled it so it was close to perfect. Then leveled my heat plate to the same level and XYZ to the same level. I have the different motors without the connector clip also corrected the current setting per the manual but what is the difference between the motors with the clipped connector the the type that doesn't have a clip. One last question is there a spec on how tight the belts should be?
Thanks for any info.

No, you want to set your Z=0 so when you slice your object, the first layer is what you tell the slicer to make it. For example, let's say you have a .2mm first layer height, when you print - it doesn't matter if it's PLA or ABS - the first layer should be .2mm thick when measured.
