TIL that the roStock really is all it is cracked up to be.

Hi all,
So some friends of ours came over today to see my printer (yes, its the ultimate conversation piece). My friend creates prototypes of devices and boards for a living at a large company and had bought a 3D printer quite a while ago for use there. He wanted to see how my prints compared. He was absolutely blown away that my lowest resolution prints at 0.25mm per layer were better than his highest quality prints. Not to mention the strength of the parts and sheer size of the printing area I had available. He said he had spent $3,000 on his printer (granted, it is a dual extruder) and about fell over when he saw that I had only spent a grand. Of course, his came pre-built with limited settings. He has been having to ship off his parts to be printed by companies that do this sort of thing since his printer wasn't cutting it. He said my prints on the rostockv2 rivaled those companies prints. He left taking a few samples of my prints to show the folks around his office.

Just wanted to let SeeMeCNC know that when they see your printer and the speed/quality it produces, it generates an unexpected degree of 3D printer envy.
He left both amazed and unhappy all at the same time..

Any time I have company over, if the printer is running, everyone will just stare dumbfounded at it the whole time. 2D printing was NEVER this entertaining. Not even with a plotter!

Sounds like a cubePro, a university near here purchased one of those. They struggled to get it running for months before the company's customer support sent them a replacement. It works okay, but they've since gotten a Rostock Max v2 and were similarly blown away by the sheer print quality to price ratio.

I think the Orion would be a good buy for just about any educational institution. Much like the F-35, it wins over the competition partially because of its capabilities, and partially because it looks way, way cooler.

ya but the F-35 has the MaxV2 beat on "issues" by a mile... My Rostock Max V2 is fantastic!

The Rostock MAX v2 can probably out-maneuver the F-35 too. (If an F-16 can do it, just about anything can. :) )
