RoStock Temp reading off by abot 30C

Post by FDM_Process »

I've upgraded to an E3D v6 not too long ago and changed the appropriate settings in the firmware, yet the readings are still off by about 30C. Does anyone have some tips or solutions for this?

Thermistors are not really accurate plus the temp you are measuring is at the side of the heater block so not the same as the nozzle.

Still 30 degs is a lot.

I am sure if you covered the heater block with rtv it would come closer as the heat losses are reduced therefore the actual temp is closer. But you may have a problem somewhere else.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

A quick test is to put the thermistor in a cup of boiling water and measure the temp in repetier, matterhacker or the display. It should read 100C. If not, then you have a calibration issue. This removes variables like the one teoman mentioned. If you are way off, then I'd recommend checking E3D-Online's site and read any updates and then checking and posting on their forum if needed. They may have swapped thermistors or got a bad batch, you never know.

All my E3D supplied thermistors are consistently off by 20 degrees (reading high) with the recommended firmware configuration.
I swapped to using a custom thermistor and tweaking the Beta values to match the actual temperature.
