1 Piece Tubing Cutter

I've bookmarked several tubing cutters to print, but almost all of them require nuts and screws and springs to assemble, so I've never actually made one. The one I liked the best even used a very specific special order metal rod as a linear guide, and I just wanted something simple that worked.

So... I designed my own! This design is 1 single piece, has no moving parts or hardware to buy, and it works great for Bowden tubing! It also has holes through it (to reduce how much plastic it uses) that allow you to screw it down to your workbench.

I cant tell you how many times I've had to re-cut my PTFE tubing because of screw-ups. I'll definitely give this a whirl.

I've been using this razor cutter, but still tend to mess it up.

Anvil cutters are nice, but it helps to have something to align whatever you're cutting.

Let me know how it works for you!

Forgot to mention, the center holes are so you can reach in with a jewelers screwdriver or something like that to hold down the material you're cutting.

You could add a pin that's got a servo grommet glued to the end as a way to hold it into place. Would work well for R/C pushrods too. (Gold-n-Rod, etc.)

Jim thanks for posting something that we can all use, is simple to operate and easy to print.
Sometimes we forget that the lower tech items work better than high tech, more costly solutions.

I have one of those cutters and even with it I couldn't get a perfectly 90d cut. Great job on this design and releasing it. I'm printing a few right now!! :-D

Just reinforces the old adage: "you want something done right, sometimes you gotta do it yourself." Great work!
