Fan Shroud for Flush Mounted Hotend

Hello,

I have an e3dv6 lite that I undermounted instead of using the spacers to the effector platform. Does anyone know of a model that I can print that will work with this setup. I tried designing one but am struggling using 123d. Below is a picture of my current setup for reference.

Thanks!

I use a long m3 screw and some nuts to mount stock(ish) fan mounts down lower.

You want the hotend to be below the effector?
If so, I think that a modified version of my fan duct will work. I use 3 bolts, to hold the fan duct to prevent vibrations and to increase overall stiffness.

The red circles is the position that 713maker's mount and Yellow Jacket use.
I'm currently modifying it so that the 3 central bolts match theirs.

Go to Repables.com and search for fan shroud. You should be able to find one that fits your needs.

Oh boy, fan shroud... layer cooling fan.
I got it all wrong. :(

Guess I meant to say layer cooling fan. I need a layer cooling fan that will work with my current setup.

Thanks for the link, are there any pictures of this one in action? I am having a hard time visualizing how that mount would be attached to the printer.

See if this helps, if not I can take a better pic. Keep in mind that image is of a different effector, but the angle is the same for the stock effector on the v2.

That looks like it is cooling the hotend's heatsink. I am looking for a layer cooling fan. Sorry about the misleading title.

Nah, just a bad image.

It's my layer fan.

Do you happen to have a model that I could load into 123d and edit. I need to extend the mounting portion of the model by a few mm to better line up with the my hotend.

Thanks,
Nathan

It was designed in DesignSpark Mechanical, and not sure how well that transfers to other programs.

The program is free, found here: http://www.rs-online.com/designspark/el ... mechanical

Fan model is here: http://forum.seemecnc.com/download/file.php?id=10634

Finally was able to get the mount printed after having my nozzle and heat break clog on me. I used some aluminum spacers to get the fan in the right position. Have any suggestions for the fan speed / cooling settings in slic3r.

Thanks again for the great model and fan recommendation.

Oh, I just now realized how much lower your hotend hangs than mine. ( no jokes... :) )

So it's a 5v fan, if you set your layer to 50% you'll be running the fan at the rated voltage. Although I run mine all the time at 12v and haven't had a problem yet.

Yea it is pretty low. Took a number of trips to home depot to find the right combination of spacers to make it sit at the correct height.

Do you run the layer fan all the time or let the sli3cr detect when to run it?
