comds, we would like to welcome you to the forum and thank you for buying the Rostock Max V2.
In regard to your question about the hotbed wire, you should go to the SeeMeCNC site and use the chat function that you
will see in the bottom right of the page. They will be able to answer your question.
I hope you have a great build and possibly send us some pictures.

Thanks Eaglezsoar, they replied via support ticket. Turns out you ARE suppose to cut the 14" hotbead wire from the 8' of wire.

Progress so far, Got to page 72 last night! out of a total of 142 pages... so that is basically half way done!

on page 80 of the build and getting super excited! Tell me, what do you guys use as your test print? I know there are many calibration shapes and sizes. But does anyone use a small item that they want many of for a "warmup" item. Maybe like a dice or a ring, or some other tiny demo that you can give to people?

Try one of the key chain holders that you can search for on Thingiverse you can even personalize some of them.

I tend towards little miniatures things like sandbags. Tells me if it's handling curves well, and they can be used no matter how screwed up they get. Also a fan of miniature barrels, and filament clips, although I've yet to find a clip I really like.
