Bed Calibration via SD Card?

Is there a way to follow the User manual with MatterControl for Calibration (and printing shrouds), and doing it all with an SD Card?

And/or are all the instructions good for MatterControl v1.1.3 (latest version that works on XP)? 1.4 installs fine on my W10 machine (about 100' from the printer), but I'd need to use SD card for that.

I have Cura installed on my XP by the printer, which seems to get some good vibes here, but it can't talk to the printer as well as MC.

I am sure it is doable. But you will not find instructions for it.

If you use the screws to adjust the carriage offsets then there is no need for a host computer in that phase.

For the macros, you can save them as .gcode files and run them from the lcd.

Editing the eeprom for the horizontal radius will be slightly more tricky. Although i have not used it (with success) you can save eeprom to the sd card and load the eeprom from the sd card. If the saved file is ascii (human readable format) then you should be able to do that as well.

However, any version of repetier or mattercontrol should be able to do what you want. And it is kind of nice to have a computer to occasionally connect to the printer.

So i would try to get something working and continue from there.

I tried renaming a .txt script into a .gco file and running my own calibration routine from the SD card, and it didn't work for me for some reason.

I'm sure there's a way to do it, but it didn't work the way I thought it might.

Sounds like a pain. Saw a "Woot" ad today for a $199 laptop that looks like a good deal with W10 Pro. Just ordered it. In the mean time I'm going to install the older Mattercontrol that is XP supported to get my calibration going.

By the way, I see a micro SD card with adapter supplied in kit. I assume a standard SD card can be used (as long as small and non Kingston).

Yes on the normal SD card. I've used 256MB (I could get exactly 1 slice on it), and 4GB normal SD cards, as well as the supplied 16GB microSD and adapter, and a nice sandisk 16GB class 1 microSD card. Not tried kingston, so I have no idea. Do they supply out of spec cards?

Note that under advanced options you can get at a lot of the EEPROM settings without the use of a host, although I'd need to check on if the X/Y/Z endstop offsets are exposed. I do wish that we got an MDI interface on printers though. Would make this stuff so much easier. Blah. Again, at least we don't have an alphabetically arraigned vertical keyboard.

But as the others indicated, you can get at the EEPROM values from any version of mattercontrol/repetierhost, and they should still be named the same things, since the printer firmware defines the name.

Just installed MC 1.1.3 and works on XP (after installing Framework 4.0), although doesn't seem to have the 3D view of platform unless I'm missing a button to hit. Down to playing with X-Y-Z controls, everything moves in the correct direction! I did notice that the first couple 10mm moves (x and Y) seem to move without any Z, but after 20 or 30 mm they seem to also move -Z. Is this normal? Doesn't really say what you should be looking for in manual at that point.

Nevermind, I see that's part of the radius calculation later in the guide.

OK, how do you scroll the terminal window? Can't seem to go back and look at values I need to average for Eprom.
Nevermind, I didn't have the box ticked to stop all the scrolling data, didn't know it would output data with it ticked. Got the info and plugged it into Eprom.

I did run the test w/o the glass on it, should I rerun with glass?

PS: I noticed my Kapton tape peeling off the hot end.

OK, I keep editing my post. Fixed peeling tape (I hope). But now my LCD is blank (off). Back fan running. Blow a fuse? Nothing out of the norm was going on with Electricity.
