Hey guys,

I've almost finished assembling my H1-1 after working on it for the last few weeks, and this forum has been a great help.

However with the finish line in sight, Im stuggling to find the last few assembly details I need.

My big concern is - How do I route the wires from the resistors and thermistor around the hot end and extruder? I feel like the resistors should have wires running out from opposite sides of the extruder. I cant seem to find any good descriptions or pics, and would appreciate any advice, even just a quick hand drawn sketch on where to run the wires. Perhaps Im being a little paranoid after reading so many posts about hot end failures!

I was also looking for any sort of guide on how to calibrate the motors in Mach3, how to home them before a print, etc.

The principles still apply if you have the new style hot end.

The Mach3 "Tips and Tricks" subforum has some information about calibration and homing. There are some screenshots there to give you a starting point for what speeds, accelerations, and steps/mm to insert for each axis. Section 5.5.2.3 of the Mach3 manual (found in this thread: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=460) will help you fine tune your calibration.

The main thing I am wondering is how people have routed their wires from the hot end once it is mounted onto the extruder. I haven't had much luck finding any photos which show the wiring up close.
- Do people shorten the thermistor wires? They are pretty long and floppy and seem like they could move about during a print.
- Is there a good place to anchor the wires to the extruder body as it is routed out the back? It seems like the wires would move around the hot end a fair bit if they weren't tied down somewhere on the back of the extruder.

I probably should have asked about calibration in a separate post in hindsight - apologies for that. The points where I am stuck are:
- I am struggling to work out which direction I am expecting things to move during calibration. Is there any info on this?
- How do people go about leveling the two sides of the z-axis plates so that the nozzle is a consistent height as you scroll the x-axis left and right?
