Max V2 max height?

Through 3dhubs I get an order for a design that is 389mm in height. My V2 with the slightly shorter E3D hot end shows a total height of 398mm after Z calibration and homing. Bu I assume that for making some decent diameter (around 130mm) I have to take the radius of the delta construction into account, and that means the max height at the outer perimeters is less that exactly in the middle of te printbed... Also I definitely need a raft and support for this design.

Would I even want to try this print, this tall?

Did you ever print something that tall?
I find it very difficult.

Theoretically you can. With pla it would be easier than with abs. For abs a chamber is a must here.

Best of luck

I would think chunking it, with positive alignment points (say pins on the top and sockets in the bottom), is a much better way to handle something that large. If it fails while you print the whole thing, you're out however much filament has been used, and cracking, layer shifting, extrusion, and bed adhesion issues will be magnified over the object. Talk it over with the person who ordered it, and see if they'll accept it being chunked up and solvent welded (ABS acetone, PLA CA debonder), to reduce the chance of problems, and to potentially keep your and their ultimate costs down. Also, something that large sounds like it would require multiple KG of filament, and so would be a pain, as you would need to change spools.

YEs, may chamber isn't ready yet. I asked him to split like Xeno suggested. The order has been cancelled for now.
Did anyone EVER print something that tall? on a MAX?
