Hello all.
One of the two ribbon cables I received in my kit has wire #10 cut on it near the connector at one end. I say "cut" but it looks a bit sloppy like it might have been crushed / damaged. I've already ordered some new ribbon cable connectors from amazon and plan to remove the damaged portion of the cable and attach a new connector, but before I did, I just wanted to make sure this isn't a "feature" , i.e., that some new version of the LCD that is now shipping doesn't actually REQUIRE this cable to have this wire cut. There is nothing about that in the manual, but I've found several errors in the latest version of the manual as I've been building, so thought I would double check.
Thanks!
Chris

Re: Cut ribbon cable?
I got a bit caught up in the rolling changes that deal with the new red LCD they talk about it here but there is nothing about a cut ribbon cable. I am sure that will replace it if you call by pyrex glass build plate came broken and the sent a replacement quickly

No, that's not right. You should be able to pop the end off the damaged side and move it down the cable a quarter inch and recrimp it. I've done that with IDE (remember those?) cables on computers. Just make sure you keep the red wire on the same side of the connector as the little arrow.cahenesy wrote:Hello all.

Never do anything you don't want to have to explain to the paramedics.
Re: Cut ribbon cable?
Yeah, tried the "pop it off" trick and popped it into a few too many pieces.
Luckily Amazon had replacement ends they could overnight to me for free. (Gotta love that amazon prime membership!)
