Groundbreaking Award

I was running 3 printers for most of break to make 20 groundbreaking awards for a local college that's putting in an innovation center. I've done a few other 3D printing jobs for them, and they thought that printed awards for their innovation center was fitting, so I got to work.

Their logo is a ship's helm, so I made that the base, embossed their logo (which looks better than in the photo without the glare), got my feet wet with MeshMixer to make a mound of dirt, and got to use my resin printer for the shovel parts and placards. It was a fun project to keep me busy over the holidays.

clever Jim... at 20 off you are getting to the point where making a RTV silicone moulds and casting them starts to make sense but having them all printed sure adds to the cool factor

And Mark from RotoMaak is one of the MakerHive members, so I'd probably have an easier time getting started than most...

Wasn't the right fit this time, but I should definitely get started molding. I've been thinking about it for a while, maybe I should.

I built a LittleRP. One of our MakerHive members is a chemist who formulates for MakerJuice Labs, so he's on the inside and got to test the design early before the Kickstarter launch. This was all just before the DropLit came into existence, so 5 of us from the group decided to build LittleRP's as well. It's a neat little machine. It's disgustingly simple, it's really just a stepper motor and a mirror with a build vat on it.
