Printing starts at wrong Z

Hi
Running into a strange little problem. Software, I am sure. Mattercontrol.
I successfully printed the fan shrouds for the Rostock. Did some more finer adjustments.I think the Max runs well now.

Then I tried to print from an STL file that worked great on my Cupcake. Really simple and fast object, too. It's attached.
When the print starts, for some reason the nozzle is hovering what looks like a mm above the platform spewing out ABS that is too far away to stick.

I went back in to re-do Z alignment but Z zero is set correctly. To test, I started printing one of the fan shrouds and the Z started at the correct height.
So, I conclude that somehow my STL is flawed. Again, this object works fine on Cupcake using ReplicatorG. Maybe it's something that the slicer in Mattercontrol does differently.

I am about to do more research. Any ideas are welcome.

Peter

I suspect that it's importing into matter control at a slight height. I've had that happen before. A quick fix would be to view the object, 3D view, edit, auto-arrange. Once that's done, save and try it again. That may help you some.

Take a look at the layer view in mattercontrol. If the first few layers are blank then you know the model isn't touching the platform.

Thanks for the input.
There is something off in my source 3D file which I exported as STL from Cinema 4D. I guess I didn't think of that at first because the same file worked fine in ReplicatorG.
