EZ struder motor gittering back and forth

Hey, I had my 3D printer off for a month. I come back to college and the filament is snapped, and so I have to refeed my ez-struder. I'm working on it, and it takes forever to get my filament fed through and the broken strand out. When I eventually got it fed, I run Mattercontrol and test the feed, and the motor gitters back and forth. It doesn't feed at all. I can manually feed using the hand-crank gear, so nothing is jammed. Did I ruin my step motor? What should I do?

This is symptomatic of a wiring problem - most likely a connector - most likely the connector at the RAMBo.
To test, turn off the computer, swap the extruder 4 pin connector with one of the tower steppers at the RAMBo. Turn the printer on and connect with Matter Control.
Now, use the jog controls to jog the tower that you have the extruder connected to. It will most likely stutter again. Sometimes just unplugging and plugging the connector will "fix" the issue.

Turning off the computer is a good idea but I think what Michael meant was to turn off the printer. Plugs should never be removed or inserted from the Rambo unless the printer power is off.

I fidgeted with the wire extensions right outside of the motor and it started working! Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it. You saved me purchasing a new motor.
