Bed leveling, problems between towers - Rostock Max v2

Post by Martin_Kierstein »

Hi Everybody

I'm on the Rostock Max V2 with injection molded carriages.

I'm having problems with my bed leveling between the towers. I've started doing large prints, and I'm far off the mark between all towers.

A quick overview of my problem:
1. I'm level at center and out towards the towers.
2. I'm above the bed between the towers.

What have I done:
1. Z-height and end stops are calibrated using the paper method.
2. Horizontal radius is calibrated, so that the nozzle is at 0.2 at the center and at all towers.

What does not seem to work:
1. Adjusting the Carriage Horizontal Offset value. I have tried this after reading the description here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-92PSNINO0 Even vastly exaggerating this value, seems to have no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

/Martin

Carriage Horizontal radius is over ridden by the delta radius in the EEPROM, it's just used as part of a calculation that results in Delta Radius being set to it's initial value in the EEPROM, after that, it's just that one number in the EEPROM.
I'd use one of the current calibration programs to set Delta Radius correctly at least. I've tried this one http://escher3d.com/pages/wizards/wizarddelta.php and it was pretty much spot on, I used a digital dial gauge, just note if you do use a dial gauge you'll need to invert the numbers it displays.

Assuming you have Delta Radius correct, if it still does the same thing the odds are you're towers are not correctly spaced, do you need to either correct the build or adjust the positions in the firmware, it just so happens that my V1 has almost no error between the towers when the Delta Radius is correct, other builds seem to have differing success with this.
Note no calibration will allow you to correct for tower lean, so it's important that you get that right in the build.
