4-H Robotics Group from Illinois

Post by Jefrysuko »

Hi All,

I am the leader of a robotics group for middle and high school age kids in Central Illinois. We've dabbled around with 3D printing a little and I use it some at work. We've had some experience with an UP, Taz3, Makerbot 2x but they have always been shared resources thus we've been limited with what we could accomplish. This year we saved up enough to buy ourselves a Rostock Max V2. I mainly assembled it myself with a little help from the kids where I could work it into our meetings. We are looking forward to using the printer to expand our robot building capabilities and just printing all kinds of cool stuff.

Here is one of our robotics competitions from last year.

If you guys fancy a little bit of a roadtrip, or even an overnight, you've got to come check out the Midwest RepRap Fest in March! It's a huge 3D printing event at the Elkhart, IN 4H fairgrounds, just down the road from SeeMeCNC.

Thanks for the invite. I saw the info about that event last year and had thought about trying to attend. Unfortunately it's far enough that it would be an overnight for us which is hard to manage with a group like ours.

Jefrysuko, and your group welcome to the forum!
I enjoyed watching your video and it is great to get young people interested in science. The art of Robotics and 3D printing is an excellent way to get
a introduction to how things work and could represent a good career.
Thanks for purchasing the Rostock Max V2, we feel it is the best value on the market for any 3D printer. We will be happy to answer any questions you
may have and please send more videos when they become available, they are entertaining!
May you and your group have a good time with your new printer and show us pictures of things you create.
