Rostock Max V2 new build no sound from speaker

Post by DannyCrane »

Hi there, I just finished building my kit that I ordered last week, and have been printing stuff non stop. Other than fine tuning setting, the prints have been coming out great. My problem is with the speaker on the lcd pannel. According to the instructions, it's supposed to make sound when the print starts and when its finished. Mine does not. Did I miss a step some where along the line, or should it be doing that automatically? I've done several searches, but have not found anything complaining about the same thing.

Mine does not make any sound either, except from a short dry tick when the knob is pressed.
Not sure if that is normal, because I never read anything about it making any music.

I'd have to test but I don't think it makes any noise when printing via USB. It should give a single chirp when selecting (pushing in) things on the menu. (Try to home the towers). I think It does do a triple chirp when you start a print from the SD card. (I made a .gcode file for the tower cal from the instruction book and put it on the card for easy access) You could try exporting a test print or something to the card and test. (Also make sure you pulled the sticker off the speaker, I had left mine on and had to use some needle nose to get it off after I completed the build)

M300 S300 P1000 // Beep

The above code should produce a beep from the LCD when used as a prefix and a suffix in your slicers start and stop print configurations.
Try it as a command in your print controller and it should produce the beep. I believe but not exactly positive the S300 is the duration in milliseconds and the P is the frequency of tone.
Please Google the M300 command to make sure my old brain is still operating, smart remarks from GeneB and MHackney are not required. :D

That sound will drive you crazy! Consider it a feature that you don't have any sound.

I agree Michael but user DannyCrane wants his speaker to work. After hearing it for awhile he'll probably regret asking about it.
