[SOLVED]
In the process of writing up my problem, I was able to think through to a solution... but it felt a waste to just go and delete this post, so I'm going to throw it in here and maybe someday someone can search and find it. Fan wiring matters.
The fan that cools the hot-end tube is not spinning up at all.
It used to spin up any time I set the NOZ temperature above 50 C, not so much now.
What has changed you ask? Well, I had some hardware malfunctions that necessitated some repairs and I saw that as an opportunity for an upgrade. I've replaced the hotend with a pre-assembled job of the E3Dv6, I guess what I'm asking is... where can I start troubleshooting?
Here's what I think could be at play...
* The fan itself, is new I've never seen it power up.
* I've connectorized the fan's wiring harness. Maybe my crimp job sucked.
* Is the fan particular about which contact receives (+) or (-)? It looks like I may have slotted them into opposing sides (red meets black at the connector).
* The mated connectors, feels like a solid connection to me... but could be a failure point.
* Rostock wiring bundle. Seems unlikely, this is the same length of wire that powered the last hot-end's fan.
* RAMBO board. Could be that the board is no longer driving the fan with power?
Here's what I've tried so far.
* Off and on again; no change.
* Demate, inspect, and remate fan connectors. All wires feel secure and no signs of debris inside the connectors.
* I'm sure I'm using the proper wire bundle; they were clearly labelled when I built the unit up the first time.
ATM, I'm thinking the wire-crossing at the connector might be the problem... I'll investigate that first.
As it turns out, I swapped the wires and it works wonderfully now.
