The big spacers are cool but for my second extruder arm I think I'll print the smaller standoff version! They should work just as well and print in minutes.

Cool, I am looking forward to your solution! My findings with the current duct:
+ It cools nicely with the airflow evenly distributed around the nozzle
+ I didn't encounter problems with extrusion due to the nozzle being accidentally cooled
+ The quick mount works nicely and is pretty sturdy
+ It works together with the LED ring
- It doesn't work with the new nozzle
- It is quite big compared to the rest of the carriage
- The funnel partly covers the sight onto the print
- The long design with the mount far away from the nozzle causes the duct to swing up and down
- The fan uses a lot of space off the carriage and can be caught in the extruder structure
- The airway for a 40 mm fan is rather long --> enough power for cooling but at its limit
- If a print fails and starts to peel of the bed, it gets dragged away by the funnel

My dream of a Rostock fan duct would be a system with the fan close to the center of the carriage above the carriage platform (away from the moving area of the arms) with the funnel running down between the hot end and the platform. However, this design would have to be paired with the hot end fan. It should either be compatible with the LED ring or have the same LEDs integrated into the duct. Unfortunately, space is very limited and the whole construction changes fundamentally when changing from single to dual or triple extruder.

AV8R RC - Thanks for the wider spool adapter! Black filament is arriving today - hoping to print them on my rostock today (my first 'functional' print off the printer, I hope!)

I was so excited to print the Highcooley fan duct today, until I realized it won't work for my newer nozzel. Shame too, guess I'm going to print this fan mount for now: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28412

(Note I did see the remix of the model above was not listed in the collection - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40845 - I currently have this printed and in use, but I want to see what happens when I angle the fan towards the hotend and the print (might help with my heat buildup issues on smaller prints)

Hope you haven't printed http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28412 yet. It won't work with our hot-ends as the angle of the fan is too steep. I can upload an altered version with a flat angle tonight.

Already printed, but thanks for the warning. I'm going to try and use a spacer to raise the fan height so I can still mount it, but have it angled slightly down so it blows air on the nozzel and the print (right now my current fan mount holds the fan at an angle pointing up slightly, preventing air from hitting the print. Want to see how this impacts printing small columns and printing in PLA.

I added 2 (technically 4) to Thingiverse for the Max.

A mount for the Budaschnozzle plus a fan shroud for the transition zone.

Here's the shroud I designed, which avoids blowing air across the nozzle and SHOULD work with the new nozzles. Haven't checked clearances on printing near the edges for the Onyx as I have an original square bed, though I suspect it would probably be good up to the VERY edge...

Do you have a picture with the shroud mounted on the Rostock?

I don't but I will get one tonight. My printer is at the other school right now while we troubleshoot :S

We did test it on the working Rostock at the other school though, and it worked well and fits with some slight modification.

The Thingiverse has been updated with several pics of the shroud mounted on my Rostock, and one of the fan shroud printed for my co-worker's Rostock. Looks like there have been several downloads already so if anybody has any suggestions or comments please share!

can you make one for a 40mm fan? i dont have the know how to edit those files yet.

How soon do you need it and how "perfect" do you want it? Haha, I'm elbow deep in u-joint sanding now to make sure when I get the new board from SeeMeCNC (Thank you John and Steve, btw), that I am going to be free of the delta arm blues that my coworker is dealing with slightly ATM. I could probably just toss an adjusted flange on there fairly easily if you are too concerned with the inefficient ducting by moving from a 35-ish diameter cylinder of a 40 mm to the 45 mm of a 50 mm fan...

Looking at this a bit more and having just stared at the printer again for another couple hours, I'm going to redo this with a slightly steeper fan angle that should help airflow a bit and get us an official smidge closer to the towers. I'll create a 40 mm design as well. Care to give a quick measure of the fan cylinder diameter for me, just to confirm it should be around 35 mm?

yeah its 35-36mm, i'm using alibre software.

Had a tiny bit of slack on my platform and it was really noticable on rapid moves to new positions. More so on the stops.. ;)

I wanted to make a vibration dampener and a spring tensioner to keep the arms tight but not enough to cause "Delta Arm Blues". This is made for the factory rostock arms.

I used 1/8" x 3/8" dowel pins and some 6.5x22mm ring end springs that I had laying around. Did some quick cad work in alibre and made a new "Thing". The Clips do not have any holes in the file so you can use whatever you like to secure the springs to the clips. I just used a 1/8" drill bit and it worked perfectly.

or you could replace those molded arms with cnc machine arms that seemecnc now offers. supposedly doesn't require anymore sanding.
