brian,
can you take a look at the v wheel kit, it has everything you listed except the eccentric spacer, but if you buy the kits looks like you can save a few bucks.
Have you tried the new Xtreme V wheels?

why there are no Russian Federation in billing address info? I understand about shipping, but billing? How should I pay now? Bitcoins not accepted there too

Any thoughts on whether or not it is worth it to upgrade the platform and carriage bases on my V1 to V2 components when doing this upgrade? Supposedly the V2 platform is stiffer.

I've stuck with the two-piece V1 platform the whole time. It's much sturdier than the hollow V2 platform, IMO.

The "only" benefit of the V2 effector is with the stock arms. The spring clips are much easier to assemble, and they don't have any side to side play, which can happen with the V1 effector if you sand the sides too much. If you have the TL arms the V1 is fine, maybe better.

This NEW injection molded rugged plastic platform is made of the high strength reinforced nylon just like the arms. It features the new stiffer design, and easier spring mounted U joint attachment.
Think they are referring to an older V1 design when they say it is stiffer?

the wheel "kit" only comes with 25mm long screws, they need to be 30mm
with the wheel kits you still need (3) 1/4" eccentric spacers, (27) precision washers 1x5x10, and (9) 30mm long 5mm screws.
by the time you add that, the cost is the same.
Important note: you must stack (2) 1mm thick precision washers on top of the 1/4" spacers so truck clears the extrusion. I do not recommend regular washers, they are not a precise, consistent or flat.
I have not tried the "Extreme" wheels, but they are hard polycarbonate, which I think may ride rougher than the delrin plastic ones.

I agree, the V1 platform is a bit stiffer than the V2. I do like the 3 part fan mounting tabs on the V2... but you can still mount 3 part fans to V1 platform (see attached pic) I mount hot end below platform so the fans are mounted with long pieces of M3 threaded rod to get them close to platform. Added benefit is you can swivel fans on rods to point them blowing just past heater block.

Most of the parts have been through several running changes and don't correspond with one version or the other... The V2 designation is really only a mile marker for when they overhauled the wooden parts and added the acrylic covers.
To answer your question though, the first all in one platform was not as stiff as the current version. They're on at least version 3, if not 4 or 5 for the platform. (the newest one has 3 mounting tabs for fans and accessories like Brian said)

I like the clean and simple look of these. Well done, Brian (and Jim). I'm curious though. If the wheels have no chance of popping out of the slot then could the carriage just as easily be made out of acrylic instead of aluminum?

I made a set from 1/4" acrylic, but they flex to much.

I have the same problem (Chrome on OS X; using "prosilver" style for message display), but until now didn't know the trick of zooming out to see the images. Showing the page at 25% size works. Of course, this isn't the "fault" of either the posters or the readers; it's the forum software which should handle properly resizing the images to fit the page.

I'm a LITTLE BIT confused by the required parts list, e.g. the 9 solid V wheels AND the 18 6252RS bearings.
Seems the 9 solid V wheels should be all I need ?
{& a trash can for the 12 acetal covered bearings I take OUT, along with some melamine scrap}

Each wheel has two bearings side by side. This makes carriage a lot more precise and smooth.
This also makes it possible to have only 3 wheels vs. 4 or 5 per carriage and the stiff aluminum truck plate can be single sided.
A single row bearing wheel can tip side-to-side, a double row bearing wheel can not.
The triangle of 3 wheels is the most stable configuration, and the single wheel eccentric adjustment is easier to get "action" just right... not to tight or loose.
Having the outside of extrusion towers open (no 2nd carriage plate) makes building and fastening an enclosure much simpler.
