I am super impressed with this sheet of lokbuild and I don't impress easily! It is from a kickstarter campaign. http://www.LokBuild.com

PLA with no heat sticks every time and pops off with a snap when ready. I'm curious about its longevity compared to PEI.

Is it an adhesive sheet, or does it come in a plate?

It's an adhesive sheet. - sticks down quick with no air bubbles

What sort of surface finish does it have and leave on the part?

It leaves a nice matte finish. It seems to have similar surface to a thin flexible cutting board.

Hi Joe,
Have you used it with anything else but PLA yet?

I really was hoping it would be as close to the perfect print surface as can be, but I am hearing mixed opinions about it.

So far, after 15 or so prints it is good. Any residue scrapes off with a razor blade as would PEI.

One problem - I use my nozzle as a Z-Probe to auto set my Z Height, so after heating the nozzle and it touches down it dimples the build surface where the hotend makes contact. Those dimples have stayed dimpled, if you will.

Just like GeckoTek. I've stopped using their build plates. The magnetic base does work great as a heat spreader!

I attached PEI to my Geckotek so I could get rid of the glass. It makes a good backing for a inductive proximity sensor too. So many uses for Geckotek...

Ok, Love affair with LokBuild is over. Back to my 2.5 year old PEI... like putting on an old pair of shoes. The Lokbuild just isn't good enough for day in, day out printing.

What made you want to try out something different when you already had PEI for a while?
Do you find PEI lacking in some aspects?

I was just curious. PEI is king... and I like orange.

So what killed the love affair?
Why did you stop using it, what were the issues?

Lokbuild just isn't good enough for day in, day out printing. Too much left over plastic from previous prints... Dimples from my Z probe... scratches crazy easy... TPU was unremovable and left residue even after careful scraping.. left ugly finish that transferred to next print.

Still looking for the perfect build surface. The holy grail of FDM.

SeeMeCNC's Ultralex is pretty good for PLA. GeckoTek is good for PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, and nylon (requires different surface) - but it scratches very easily, and a new disc is ridiculously expensive. Kapton tape is cheaper. Glue on glass is very easy, and once cleaned, the glass is the best surface for an automatic calibration. I think in the future, there will be some engineered surface that handles all of these things and doesn't get all scratched up if you look at it funny.

Exactly! It is the engineered future surface that I want!
But then, I have always wanted to live in the future. Even though it is no longer what it used to be.
