Soldered up the pins on the adapter and plugged it into the RAMBo after uploading firmware with SD_SUPPORT set to true. Nothing happens. Switched cables, same thing. Removed the panel from the UM and plugged them into that machine. LCD flashes and chirps (constantly), but no text comes up. Since the Ultimaker is running Marlin with LCD the reprapdiscount LCD should still at least turn on, correct? Thoughts?

If you use the newest Repetier from download.seemecnc.com , LCD support is automatic. If you're using Marlin, I'd look through Gene's GitHub for an old version of the manual that goes over this in more detail.

Every Repetier I've been able to find has the .80 tag still associated with it, including the one from SeeMe's download page, so I think I have the newest Repetier, but I don't know if it's just a header option that hasn't been changed or not...

Any links to the .90 Firmware?

Unless you have a specific need it addresses, I'd stay away from .90 until it's out of beta.

Alright well here's what I'm dealing with. I just flashed the Rambo with Marlin to see if it would make any difference and checked the pinout file to ensure they are correctly associated with the pins in the install guide, which they are. I have tried swapping the cables (TypeA/TypeB in the photos) however they make no difference in the display without USB connected as well and they go from the contrasted blocks to blank screen with the USB connected. Thoughts? I'm hoping to get this printing from the SD to hopefully avoid connection issues and host issues.

Not sure it has any bearing or will help, but I had the "Connection TypeA w/ USB connected" screen until I switched the LCD from powered by USB to-powered by PSU with the little jumper on the Rambo. Located above the USB connection on the board. My LCD works, but I don't print from it. Good luck

That may be my problem because it somehow just started displaying characters after I reflashed it with Repetier FM and have the USB connected. So you jumpered from the 5v auxiliary above the reset, correct? and then to where did you go? and did you have a FM prompt to change?

I just switched the power select jumper near the reset(see diagram) from USB to PSU, rebooted, and it worked. Nothing else. I do use Repetier FM. There were some posts on this very early on in the forum, if you can mine them out

You're very welcome! On to printing! I do have a suspicion that having a quad core processor in my laptop helps with a lot of "issues"

Haha, mine was one that was ordered the day after the Kickstarter closed, unfortunately (school red tape). It was assembled but then after waiting on a 3mm setup then getting some 1.75 filament, trying to print PLA, after having a blown Rambo 1.0, attempting to get proper cooling for the part, taking the summer off for other projects, installing an E3D to get 3mm finally, designing an adapter plate to use the old Steve's extruder design as a proof of delta concept before investing even more time and energy, and now calibrating the machine, I'm just getting to assembling the LCD and adapter that weren't available at the time of purchase. So needless to say there have been some changes in the manual from when I went through it with the original board and the current one, and the jumper movement wasn't included in the install guide for the LCD Today marks one of the first days in a while I can get excited about the machine again... Again, mad props to Batteau62.

It works with the LCD and it connects to Repetier Host a lot quicker. It also has autolevel support! (But that doesn't work so don't bother.)

Have you switched the cables (EXP1 becoming EXP2 and vice versa)?

Yep. The lCD goes out when I swap them.

Which firmware are you using? I reflashed with .83 and it worked correctly I believe.

Dust2Dust02-By the looks of it, you have an older "acrylic" kit yes? I remember an issue early on with ribbon cable length in some kits. I can't find the thread, but I would measure your cables and maybe shoot SeeMe an email to check them? I think that issue was EMI related, and just looking at your pic, no disrespect, but try cleaning up your wiring. Pay attention to separating power lines from comm lines(the further apart or shielded the better). Ha ha, that is not mine, I just saw that pic and it was exactly what mine was doing. I will take a pic when I get home.Mine isn't too old. I have the melamine one, old arms, old extruder (maybe not that old, but older than the current one).

Also, I have no idea what firmware, I just followed the steps in the manual and it was working. I did not have thermistors in place so all I could do was home my axis'.

Good to know! I would still investigate cable lengths. getting white boxes leads me to believe the LCD works(could be wrong) I'm suspicious of firmware or something else? Definitely post some pics and info.

That's my mess Much of the wiring in there is for extending the extruder/hotend bundle to mount Steve's extruder up top after assembly but was done with shielded cable and the LCD had the shorter ribbons as I bought it after assembly since it wasn't an option when I first purchased the kit. The wiring got cleaned up a bit now but since they are all shielded aside from the tower steppers, it's working well right now.

No offense taken! I knew it was a bird's nest Now it's a slightly less tangled bird's nest. Wanting to be able to still open the doors without disconnecting things, I needed to have a bit of slack in the wires, so knowing that it could cause problems I was sure to use shielded 4 strand

Thought I had flashed the firmware. I hadn't. Flashed it and now the LCD works.
