So there are a TON of different 3d scanning solutions out there.

For instance: here are a few crazy huge reference lists http://mesh.brown.edu/byo3d/links.html, http://www.simple3d.com/.

What have you guys had success with? Laser scanning? Photogrammetry?

Did you purchase a solution or hand roll your own?

I'm holding out for the scanning phone app those crazy Swiss nerdgnomes have prototyped to become available.

Your force in the google is weak, young printer...

Looks like a whole bunch of places have just republished the one article/interview, but here's the first one I found:

The resolution seems pretty low on that method - albeit cheap.

I wonder - is there a high quality method for under $1k? I'm surprised I haven't seen any high quality home-brewed open source options! Maybe that means it is time for one!

I was keeping an eye out for the matterform. $579

It looks like it's available now. I wonder what people's experience has been with them?

$650 Canon t4i + VisualSFM + Mesh software = 3d scanner, and you get a kick butt camera to use elsewhere.

You do need a fairly nice computer to do it with any sort of speed though.

Hey everyone - I bought a used Kinect to play around with. Also this solution that uses a linear laser pointer and a webcam seemed worth trying too
