So, after a grueling couple of rainy days, I finished assembly of the Rostock Max V2. Went through calibration and printed the first fan shroud. The slot where you put the fan is about an eigth of an inch too wide. In fact, the whole part seems too big. I went through the calibration again and verified my eeprom settings from the manual. Printed again, same result.

The machine is stock, freshly built, I'm using hatch box PLA for the print.

I've searched a bit and I'm just lost on what I'm doing wrong.

You likely need to adjust your diagonal arm length to achieve dimensional accuracy. Start with a calibration cube of specified size.
If the Z is correct, then you have an arm length, rather than a step/MM issue.


(Observed size / Specified size) * Current arm length setting = New arm length should get you a working arm length. If not, keep playing with that till it clicks.

Almost certain that you have the diagonal arm length set wrong. Guessing you have the length of the old style arms (269mm IIRC) but the newer ball end arms are longer (290.8mm).

Sounds like exactly the issue. Just edit the eeprom value and save.

I had searched and have already double checked the diagonal length setting. I'll attach a shot of my eeprom settings.

Try setting that steps per MM value to 80. You've managed to confuse axis steps per MM with Extruder steps per MM.

Xenocrates is exactly right. Make sure you follow what the manual says.

Man, I wish I had posted on here sooner rather than spend 2 days trying to figure what I did wrong.

I just saw "steps" and I was excited.. Anyway, changed it back to 80, changed the correct field, saved it, running a test print, I'll let you know how it goes.

and now resetting z ...

That fixed it! both fans are now installed and I'm printing my three year old a spider

I made the exact same mistake, thanks to this thread I'm back up and running!
